Renewable energy empowering action!
The global grassroots movement has installed more than 350,000 solar lights in homes, schools and community spaces in more than 15 countries, and taught green skills to empower social entrepreneurs at every stop. Liter of Light gives electricity-poor or marginalized communities access to affordable solar light technology with simple, open-source designs that let people build their own affordable solar lights with locally found and recycled materials.
As Special Projects Coordinator, I get to design and mobilize interactive exhibits, experiential workshops and fun, creative campaigns that help tell the Liter of Light story of access and empowerment. These projects have helped launch more green education programs and inspired folks to grow the renewable energy movement with workshops in their own communities in over 30 countries now.
Our Liter of Light @ Night campaign launch at AIGA’s SF Design week engaged hundreds of people in a DIY design workshop challenge. They built solar streetlights from recycled materials that were later installed in marginalized communities around the world, helping to spread the story.
The Journey of Light Road Trip campaign captures this renewable energy movement in motion (and motion picture). The Liter of Light team travels across countries in a 1959 electric VW van, giving workshops to kids in dozens of schools and meeting unique people with innovative solutions for sustainable living along the way. Liter of Light partnered with Ace Prodigy Media and Lost and Found Journeyman to capture this unique connecting of adventure and advocacy in action.
